work in clay unearthing my past As a child I spent many weekends exploring tombs which had been opened years before on the darkest of nights by thieves looking for jewels and gold. Ceramic pots had little value and were trodden on in frustration at such a ‘poor’ find. I collected these precious, earth coloured shards, fascinated by their history and the feelings they evoked. In this project, each piece I make comes out of a feeling as opposed to a series of sketches of logically evolving ideas. To the outside observer there may be no obvious connection. Like an archeologist, piece by piece, I am unearthing a collection that will eventually tell a clear story.
